What Marouane Fellaini has said about a shock reunion with Jose Mourinho at Tottenham

Marouane Fellaini insists he has no plans to leave Shandong Luneng Taishan F.C. amid talk of reuniting with his former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho in the January transfer window.

This is despite revealing his is still in contact with the Tottenham Hotspur head coach.

According to Les Sports , Mourinho is hoping to bring the towering midfielder back to the Premier League, and has made signing the 32-year-old his top priority next month.

Fellaini was Mourinho's go-to player during his time at Old Trafford and saw his playing time reduced when the Portuguese tactician was sacked and subsequently replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As a result, he departed for China at the beginning of the year and thus brought an end to a five-and-a-half year spell in Manchester.

And despite revealing that he and Mourinho are still in contact, a return to the Premier League in the new year seems to be off the table.

"Jose is special for me. We text each other, we call each other from time to time," Fellaini told Eleven Sports.

"He’s taken over at Spurs and he’s doing well. I wish him all the best.

"But I am good where I am now."

With that said, it wouldn't be a surprise if Fellaini joined Spurs on loan in the new year.

This is because he will not be in action until at least the end of February when the Chinese football season begins again, so a short-term agreement could be an option.

Although, Mourinho has got plenty of midfield options.

Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso arrived in the summer to supplement the likes of Harry Winks, Eric Dier and Moussa Sissoko, while Dele Alli is thriving as the most advanced midfielder at the moment.

As a result, Fellaini's desire to stay put shouldn't affect the north London outfit moving forward.
