A marmoset monkey is on the loose in Oxfordshire and members of public have been warned not to touch it with their bare hands.

The 14-month-old escaped pet was last heard in the large village of Kidlington in Cromwell Way on Tuesday morning.

Posting in the Facebook group Pets Lost and Found in Oxfordshire, her owner Sarah Yas warned that the animal was not domesticated.

"Lost female marmoset monkey in Kidlington on Cromwell Way. 14 months old. Not tame," her post read. "If seen please use gloves or towel to catch her and message me. Thank you."

The owner also put up a reward for the safe return of the monkey.

She added: "Reward £100 and a bottle of wine for whoever brings her back to me."

The large village also made headlines back in 2016 when Chinese tourists descended in search of "the true sense" of the UK.

Residents were left confused as coaches and sightseers arrived in the village, posing for photos in residents' front gardens.

A guide said the tourists were attracted by the quiet houses and gardens.
