Marmite peanut butter is coming to UK supermarkets in controversial new launch

If you're a fan of Marmite , and also partial to a spoonful of peanut butter or two... you'll probably love the latest spread innovation to hit supermarket shelves.

As Marmite have just announced that they're about to launch a Marmite peanut butter, that combines crunchy, unctuous peanut butter with the classic umami taste of the iconic savoury yeast spread.

Setting you back a hefty £2.50, Marmite peanut butter will first go on sale on Ocado on 25th March, before hitting the rest of the nation's supermarkets including Tesco and Asda on 7th April 2019.

As the first permanent product innovation since the brand was established in 1902, the new edition - yet equally as controversial - salty spread has been created in response to overwhelming demand.

But the intriguing new spread is not actually as unique as you think, with both the general public and notable VIP fans such as John Barrowman, Joey Essex and music star, Sophie Ellis-Bextor all having gone nuts about the perfect pairing on social media before.

Asda is selling 100 Jaffa Cakes for just £4 - but only for a limited time

If you don't eat nuts but are a Marmite fan that wants to up their toast ante a little bit further, why not opt for a Marmacado sandwich instead, by combining your beloved Marmite with some smashed avocado, either on toast or in a toastie.

Just like the peanut butter combination, it might sound weird, but it's truly the stuff of dreams. Trust me on this one...

Camilla Williamson, Brand Manager at Marmite, said: “The British public asked, and we listened. We’re delighted to bring the nation exactly what they’ve been craving with the creation of Marmite Peanut Butter.”

“It’s the most exciting product launch since the conception of the brand in 1902 and we’re confident that the nation is going to love it. They ain’t tasted nuttin yet.”

Whether it’s smothered on a crumpet, spread on a slice of sourdough or scoffed straight from the jar, the new spread is set to be a hit with lovers and haters alike.
