It’s already been added to food such as crisps, biscuits, ricecakes, popcorn and peanut butter.
And now there’s a Marmite -flavoured pilsner beer for drinkers to love or hate.
Craft brewer Camden Town has used ingredients including smoked Rauch malt, Perle hops and Marmite.
Marmite Ale is said to have a smoky flavour but with a punchy taste.
Marmite is made brewer’s yeast and experts at Camden Town say the Marmite beer brings the “yeasty journey full circle”.
Four-packs costing £8 hit shelves at supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and the Co-op from September 13.
Ashleigh Amos of Camden Town Brewery said: “Marmite is such an iconic brand that’s been dividing the nation for over 100 years, so we couldn’t think of anyone more iconic to launch a collaboration beer with.
“Combining Marmite’s distinctive flavours with our never pasteurised beer might seem like an unlikely pairing at first - but trust us, you’re going to love it.”
Sophie Allan, brand manager at Marmite, said: “Marmite fans love it when we surprise them and put their favourite yeasty spread into new products, and this will be no exception.
“Strictly for our over-18 fans only, with the help of our friends at Camden Town Brewery they’ll be able to enjoy the distinctive taste of Marmite in an ale.”
Previous limited edition Marmite tweaks have been sell-outs with fans snapping up jars of spread combined with Guinness, Champagne and chilli as well as a double strength variety.
