Marmaris chip shop in Livingston gutted by flames after blaze breaks out overnight

A chip shop has been badly damaged in a fire which broke out overnight in Livingston.

The fire started in the Marmaris chip shop and businesses in the surrounding Craigshill Mall have been closed off on Tuesday morning.

Police have cordoned off the area and some of the other shops may have suffered water damage from the firefighting.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the large fire around 2.35am.

A spokeswoman said: "A chip shop was well alight. We used four breathing apparatus, one line of hose reel and a high pressure hose to extinguish the fire."

The fire was contained in in the chip shop and was brought under control before 4.30am.

Locals said other shops were hit by water damage, with one writing: "Unisex Hair Salon and other premises below are affected too with water and other damage and can't open due to this."
