Marlon Humphrey apologized to Odell Beckham Jr. for choking him

Marlon Humphrey and Odell Beckham Jr. waged quite a battle in the Week 4 war between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. The battle overheated at one point, an escalation of arms for which Humphrey apologized to Beckham after the game.

The Ravens cornerback blatantly choked the Browns receiver aften slamming him on the ground after a play, retribution from Humphrey for Beckham connecting with at least one punch while blocking on the play. Both players were penalized for their extracurricular fracas.

After the game, Humphrey told reporters he apologized to Beckham. As quoted by Jamison Hensley of ESPN,

“I ran into him after the game and apologized. It’s not really the brand of football I want to represent. The whistle blowed. It has to be over with.”

Beckham lost an earring in the scuffle. Browns coach Freddie Kitchens was animated in anger about a perceived double standard involving Beckham.

“I saw what you saw,” Kitchens said via ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio. “He was getting choked on the ground. They get away with that because it’s Odell.”

Kitchens then indicated he will speak to NFL officiating director Al Riveron about the incident and why it’s okay to try and choke out a player on the field.
