Marlon Harewood issues verdict on Nottingham Forest's 'devastating' play-off collapse

Former striker Marlon Harewood believes pressure got the better of Nottingham Forest in their bid to secure a play-off spot.

The Reds looked set to cruise into the post-season until their final day collapse which saw Swansea City make up a three-point and five-goal gap to land a play-off spot at the expense of Sabri Lamouchi's men.

And as the dust begins to settle on what was a chaotic night not only at the City Ground but all across the Championship, former striker Harewood, who came through the club's academy before representing the first team for seven years, has provided his thoughts on what went wrong.

"I have no idea," he told Sky Sports. "I was devastated last night because the lads have been fantastic this year and to lose it on the last day of the season, I bet the lads will be really down this morning reflecting on the situation.

"A lot of pressure was amounting for the last couple of games because all the teams around them were winning and getting closer to them.

"It's still hard to take really because last game of the season, all they needed to do was shut up shop."

He added: "I bet the lads will be fuming with themselves because I've been a similar situation and they will all be beating themselves up and thinking what they should have done.

"But it's time to reflect and concentrate on next year."
