MIAMI _ After putting together six hits in the first two games, the Marlins bats exploded Saturday night.
Miami pounded Colorado for 16 hits, topping the Rockies 7-3 to pick up its first win of the young season.
The Marlins had five players with multi-hit games _ Martin Prado, Miguel Rojas, Lewis Brinson, Rosell Herrera and Chad Wallach. Prado and Rojas each notched three hits against Colorado.
"Guys kept chipping away tonight," Marlins manager Don Mattingly. "A lot of firsts tonight _ we get the first win out of the way, we had a lot of guys that didn't have hits, get hits.
"Probably a lot of sighs from that point. If you haven't been through it, you don't understand it, but that first one you have to get it out of the way."
On the mound, Pablo Lopez picked up the victory, tossing 5 1/3 innings and allowed three earned runs. The Marlins will go for the series split on Sunday afternoon.
Here are three takeaways from Saturday's win.
