Marlins rally to beat Phillies in 11, 3-2

PHILADELPHIA_They were down 2-0 and down to their last out.

Somehow, the Marlins escaped with the win.

Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna came up with clutch RBI hits in the ninth to tie it, and Martin Prado delivered the deciding blow in the 11th with a solo home run to give the Marlins a 3-2 victory over the Phillies.

The Marlins (50-42) improved to eight games over .500 for the first time since June 3, 2012. And with the New York Mets losing Monday, the Marlins took over sole possession of second place in the National League East.

It took a last-gasp comeback to pull it off.

Trailing 2-0 and down to their final out in the ninth, the Marlins came up with two runs to tie the score. Then, in the 11th, Prado belted his third home run of the season to cap off the comeback win.

A.J. Ramos worked the 11th for his 30th save.

It was a big night, too, for Jose Fernandez, who had his "K" game going.

Taking the mound for the first time since the All-Star Game, Fernandez whiffed 14 to tie a career high.

He became the third-fastest pitcher since 1900 to reach 500 career strikeouts when he fanned Cody Asche in the fourth. Fernandez hit the 500-mark in his 65th game. Only Dwight Gooden (61 games) and Yu Darvish (62) got there quicker.

For all his strikeouts, Fernandez was no match for Phillies starter Aaron Nola, who delivered a gem of his own. Nola held the Marlins to two hits during his six innings.

He had the Phillies swinging themselves into corkscrews with a blend of 99-mph fastballs and a wicked curve. Fernandez had eight strikeouts in the first three innings.
