It could be a take out of the hit tear-jerker film Marley and Me where a cute dog was the star of the show.
But this sweet lurcher, also called Marley, is pulling on animal-lovers heartstrings to find him a home.
Spending two years living on the streets in the region with his former owner, Marley has had some tough times.
But he is now looking for a special person for him to call his mum or dad.
Marley - who is around two years old - lived rough with his former owner but could not cope with the freezing conditions.
He went into RSPCA care with another dog called Daisy who has already been re-homed.
Suzanne Watkins from RSPCA Northumberland West Branch, who are caring for Marley, said: “Marley has been looking for his special person for a little while now.
“His friend Daisy has already found her perfect home and we really want to find Marley his ‘Me’.
“He’s a very sweet dog who will make someone a great companion.
“We’re looking for a home where there are no other animals or children for Marley.
“He is strong on the lead and will need further training in this respect but he will sit nicely for a treat. He is fine being left for short periods of time. He can be protective over his toys.
“Like most lurchers, Marley needs a home where he can go for a walk and then have a lovely snooze.”
