Marks & Spencer warns of ‘delivery delays’ in Bristol weeks before Christmas

Marks & Spencer has warned deliveries in the lead-up to Christmas could be delayed.

The supermarket chain is experiencing disruption as a result of "adverse weather conditions", which are affecting its delivery service.

Bristol is among a handful of UK cities where delays can be expected.

A statement on its website reads: “Due to adverse weather conditions, we are experiencing disruptions in our carrier services causing delivery delays.

“We are working closely with our carrier partners to get your order to you as soon as we can.”

Customers can also expect delays in Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, York, Dudley Port, Middleton, Dagenham and Bradford, according to its website.

Thousands of customers up and down the county have placed food orders with M&S in the lead-up to Christmas.

But Storm Arwen caused chaos over the weekend, disrupting the delivery line.

M&S has been approached for more information about what this means for Christmas food orders, but is yet to respond.

It comes as a report by The Guardian states that an army of 3,000 staff will fan out from M&S’ head office in London this week to meet the demands of the Christmas boom.

With a shortage of delivery drivers, stock gaps and demand for online shopping, staff who work in different sectors of the company will head to its stores to help pick and pack Christmas online orders.
