Marks and Spencer has launched a new Percy Pig spin-off, promising to rival traditional mince pies in the run-up to Christmas.
M&S has unveiled a new sponge cupcake, complete with pink icing and its trademarked jelly hog on top.
Taking to Twitter, the supermarket stated: "Move over, mince pies: Percy Pig Pies are here!
"Crisp pastry with a fruity filling, Percy-flavour sponge and pink fondant icing, topped with...Percy, of course. In store now."
But it seems some customers were less than enticed by the new offering.
One person wrote: "I think you need to stop, take a step back, and think very carefully about what you've just done."
Another said: "NO... no no no. I LOVE percy pigs, in all their glory. But just... no. This is going a step too far".
A third user chimed in: "I'm probably in the minority but I am not a fan of Percy Pigs and on minced pies? No thanks."
One customer saw the divisive nature of the new product as a freebie opportunity, asking: "Not sure, but I shall reserve judgement. Perhaps a free trial for Sparks cards..?". Love it.
But it seems not everyone is hating on the new Percy Pig pie, with @Louisa_Pique writing: "Bought some yesterday, loved them, more like a Bakewell tart."
Should you wish to try them out for yourself, the treats come in packs of four and are priced at £2 - and are available to shop in store now.
The sweets were first created in 1992 and came in strawberry, blackcurrant and raspberry flavours.
A firm household favourite in the UK, the Percy Pig brand has expanded over the years and products including Phizzy tails, biscuits and even porridge hit the shelves.
