Marks & Spencer's hot cross buns are seriously offending shoppers

There may still be a few months to go until Easter but that hasn't stopped Marks & Spencer already selling hot cross buns.

This Easter the retailer has released a variety of flavours too which includes salted caramel, Belgian chocolate and Bramley apple.

However, one of the store's flavours may be a step too far for some shoppers, and it's causing uproar on social media, reports MEN.

Sharing the new product on Facebook, M&S wrote: "Hello new flavour alert! These are not just hot cross buns… These are NEW Chilli and Cheese Hot Cross Buns. Visit us in store to toast the start of the Easter season."

Since sharing the post, the retailer has been inundated with comments with many claiming they shouldn't be allowed.

One Facebook user said: "Shouldn't be allowed, REAL Hot Cross Buns should not have any of these faddy flavourings."

Another said: ""No no no! So very wrong!"

A third found issue with the name of them rather than the product itself. They said: "That’s not a hot cross bun. It’s a cheese roll. Stop it."

And, a fourth said: "Noooo, these are just Chilli and cheese baps or brioche."
