Marks & Spencer has divided customers with its new food product - with some claiming that it is grossly overpriced.
The supermarket's new Percy Pig-flavoured cake in a jar debuted on shelves on July 13.
Inside the jar are layers of "fluffy Madeira sponge with Percy Pig flavour buttercream, raspberry jam and fruity raspberry jelly pieces".
The treats costs £4, and many customers have hit out at Marks and Spencer after finding the price unreasonable.
In an announcement about the new product on their Instagram page, Marks & Spencer wrote: "Fuel your cake jar obsession with our NEW @official_percypig cake jar!
"Tip: we guarantee these will sell out in record time, so get one in store now.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, beneath a Facebook post about the new product, one furious shopper stated that the jar was a "rip off".
Another wrote: “In central London they rinse you for £4.50 for one of those cake jars."A third Facebook user commented: “Its nice but price is too high for such a small jar £4.”
However, not all potential shoppers believed the price to be unreasonable.
Many comments left under the post consisted of users tagging their friends and family and telling them to purchase the cake jar.
One excited user wrote: "Ohhhh hello!! We need to go on a hunt for these xx”.
Another commented: "It looks so yummy!"
Marks & Spencer previously landed itself in hot water earlier this month after appearing to plagiarise Indian restaurant Dishoom.
Many customers complained that the retailer's new bacon and egg naan roll was suspiciously similar to a meal served by the restaurant.
