Marks & Spencer launch Colin the Caterpillar cake jars in three delicious flavours

Did someone say Colin the Caterpillar in a jar? It seems 2021 is also the year of surprises, and Marks & Spencer have made coming out of lockdown even better by launching a trio of new cake jars.

At just £4 each, the sweet treats are available in three delicious flavours including a fruity Raspberry Ripple, indulgent salted caramel Trillionaire’s and everyone’s favourite Colin the Caterpillar. They are all available in M&S stores now, to find out your nearest branch of M&S, you can use the store finder tool here.

With the rule of six firmly in place, the takeaway cake jars are perfectly portioned to pack into your picnic basket or handbag. Whether it’s for celebrating a friend's birthday, or simply treating yourself to a sweet after-lunch treat, these new single serving ‘cake-away’ jars are possibly the best thing since sliced... cake.

Best of all, the sturdy jars are reusable and fully recyclable, so you can enjoy every spoonful.

Already a huge success on social media, foodie Instagram account @newsfoodsuk posted about the new release, and within half an hour, already gained 5K likes and over 700 comments.

Followers swooned over the latest sweet sensation with one fan commenting: “Portable cake what’s not to love.”

Another tagged her friends and could hardly resist the new jars stating: “The temptation to go after work is unreal.”

Check out the new Cake Jar range:

Colin the Caterpillar Cake Jar, 178g

Layers of all the Colin goodness - rich chocolate sponge, Belgian chocolate sauce, chocolate ganache, milk and white chocolate chips and finished with a Colin the Caterpillar white chocolate face - we're pretty sure this is what dreams are made of.

Raspberry Ripple Cake Jar, 158g

If you're not a huge chocolate fan this Raspberry Ripple jar is the one for you. Layers of madeira sponge, sweet raspberry jam, creamy vanilla buttercream and freeze-dried raspberry pieces. Is your mouth watering yet?

Trillionaire’s Cake Jar, 169g

Satisfy your sweet tooth and opt for this indulgent dessert. Featuring layers of madeira sponge with salted caramel sauce, chocolate ganache, milk chocolate shortcake balls and fudge pieces.

Although many are buzzing about the new M&S additions, some Colin fans are appalled at the supermarkets idea to stuff the famous Caterpillar into a jar.

One cake critic took to Twitter and said: "It looks delicious but I’m also traumatised on behalf of Colin"

A second added: "Jeez! Looks like something from a horror film."

With a third tweeting: "Dear god what have you done to poor Colin?! Deconstructed him!"
