Cheese lovers, prepare to indulge as Marks & Spencer has delighted fans by adding a Mac & Cheese toastie to its café menu.
Luckily, the £5.25 ‘Cheese Louise’ toastie is available now in 350 M&S cafés across the country - meaning you can head out now and grab one in time for your afternoon snack.
This epic creation contains pasta tumbled in a four-cheese sauce of cave-aged Cheddar for richness, Pecorino for bite, Emmental for nutty sweetness and stringy Mozzarella for a perfect ooze - all sandwiched in thick slices of M&S sourdough bread and smothered in a mustard and onion butter.
For those who are already lovers of the M&S Mac & Cheese which launched last year, you’ll be delighted to hear that the same sauce is being used in the toastie - so you know it’s going to be good.
Talking about the latest creation, Claire Hodgson M&S Café Developer said: ‘Taking months to develop, this Mac & Cheese Toastie is truly out of this world and perfect for the upcoming cooler months. Available now in over 350 cafés up and down the country - this first on the high-street cheesy goodness is not to be missed!’
The chain says it signifies a move away from Mac & Cheese simply being a side dish, as its gourmet renaissance shows it's well and truly cemented as a must-eat pasta dish in its own right.
Sales of M&S Best Ever Mac & Cheese have proved this popularity as over a million happy customers have enjoyed the dish since it launched in October.
M&S has also seen consistently high sales across its entire Mac & Cheese range, from its mini bites to the Plant Kitchen vegan option, Made Without Wheat and classic varieties.
We first spotted the tasty masterpiece on the M&S Instagram page, where the post was captioned: “We've only gone and made a mac and cheese toastie. In the M&S Café now – don't walk, RUN”
With over 10,000 likes already on the post, it’s safe to say the new cheesy extravaganza is an instant hit with foodies.
One eager fan tagged her friend in the post and said: 'Guess where we’re going for brunch next time.'
Another added: 'Heavenly,' while a third wrote 'Wow.'
'I have to get this!' enthused another fan.
