Marks & Spencer create customer divide over 'interesting' new product

Marks & Spencer have sparked a customer debate after a "disgusting" product announcement, according to Cambridgeshire Live.

Known for its Percy Pig sweet range, the retailer took to social media site Facebook on May 25 to share a picture of the new Percy Pig themed ice cream sundae. Has the Percy craze reached a new height?

The picture's caption reads: "Make it a SUNDAE FUNDAY with our Percy Pig ice cream sundae. To make it, fill a glass with layers of Percy Pig ice cream, your favourite Percy sweets, mini marshmallows, Percy dessert sauce and fresh berries."

With customer's joining in on the Percy hype thus far, many feel this has reached a new, sickly level, taking to social media to express their disdain.

Could M&S have gone too far this time?

One customer replied: "I don’t like the Percy ice cream. M&S did a gorgeous Sicilian lemon one last summer but I don’t see it this year."

And another customer chipped in with: "Controversial.... I don’t like the Percy Pig ice cream."

Another, meanwhile, commented on social media: "Eew."

And another customer chipped in with: "No thanks."

Another, meanwhile, commented on social media: "M and S when are you going to take notice of the comments on here and start producing good-tasting products. I suggest you go back to the drawing board. All these sickly horrible tasting puddings are turning customers against you. Me for one!"

And another customer chipped in with: "Awful ice cream. Sorry. Was thrown away. Yuk flavour."

Another, meanwhile, commented on social media: "The PP sauce is disgusting!"

And another customer chipped in with: "Looks very sweet and sickly."

Another, meanwhile, commented on social media: "We brought this last week ... not good nobody in a house of 6 liked it."

But others were certain it would be nice, as one wrote: "Sweetie overload! Adds to basket."

"That's fine with me. Makes sure I know what to look for when I go shopping," another agreed.

"I’m not a Sundae kinda gal but I want this!" said another.
