Cops are appealing for information after a supermarket in Oban was robbed at 'gunpoint'.

The brazen male robber entered Marks and Spencer Food Hall in Lochavullin Drive at around 3.20 pm today.

He approached the checkout and threatened the 17-year-old shop assistant with what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money.

The thug then walked out of the stop with a three figure sum of cash in an unknown direction.

No firearm was discharged however the shop assistant was left extremely traumatised.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft, 45/50 years, slim/medium build wearing a green khaki coloured jacket, outdoor boots and a black beanie style hat with a green and red stripe.

Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton at Clydebank said: “This was a very frightening experience for the young shop assistant and anyone else who was within the shop at the time and thankfully no-one was physically hurt.

“We are currently making enquiries in the area to establish where the culprit went to when he walked out of the shop.

“Anyone who recognises the description of the suspect or thinks they may have seen him hanging around the area either before or after the robbery took place is asked to contact police at Clydebank immediately via 101 quoting incident number 2303 of 13 August 2019.”
