Marks and Spencer now sells aperol spritz in a can - just in time for summer

While swigging from a can of Strongbow in the street might get you a few concerned glances, if you're cracking into a tinned cocktail, suddenly it's far more socially acceptable.

A fact confirmed by Dianne Abbott earlier this year after she tucked into a mojito on the train, it seems rum cocktails aren't the only decent canned drink available at Marks and Spencer right now, with the upmarket supermarket having just expanded its range to include another British pub favourite: the iconic Aperol Spritz.

Available from now at M&S stores all around the country, one can of the neon-hued cocktail will set you back just £2 - much cheaper than pub prices.

However, instead of using actual Aperol , M&S' edition uses its own version of an Aperol Spritz, meaning their tinned orange tipple is dubbed the ‘Aperitivo Spritzer’.

While this might be an issue for some die-hard fans, if anyone can do the Italian spirit justice with an own-brand edition, it's surely M&S?

Marks and Spencer describe the drink as "a blend of white wine and orange bitters", with each 250ml can also containing 5.5% ABV.

If you find that the Aperitivo Spritzer doesn't quite match up to the original, thankfully there's still plenty of equally as fancy flavours to choose from, such as a Cherry Spritzer, Peach Spritzer and Vermouth & Tonic, all with the same £2 price tag.

If you want to make one yourself at home, Tesco currently have bottles of Aperol on offer for £10 , rather than the usual £15. Simply mix with Prosecco and a bit of soda water, then close your eyes and imagine you're sunning yourself in Italy as you drink it.
