Marks and Spencer issues 'warning' over £45 dress which 'may cause compliments'

Marks and Spencer issued a tongue-in-cheek "warning" to its shoppers over a dress they say "may cause compliments".

With warmer weather finally making an appearance after weeks of cold and drizzly days, many people are keen to plan their summer wardrobes.

High street giant Marks and Spencer regularly updates its shoppers on new stock and product launches through social media.

Taking to Instagram, the retailer shared a photo, originally posted by fashion writer Fran Bacon, to its 1.8million followers.

In the photo, Fran sports a black pure cotton midaxi smock dress in a relaxed fit, complete with lace detailing. The dress costs £45.

Captioning the image, M&S said: "Warning: this dress may cause compliments."

The dress proved a hit on the popular social media platform, racking up more than 6,100 likes.

Shoppers shared their thoughts in the comments section.
