Marks and Spencer issues important safety update to all shoppers

Marks and Spencer have issued a safety update that affects anyone shopping in its stores in the UK.

In light of recent events the retailer wants to make it clear that anyone feeling unsafe, especially women, can seek help inside its stores and for as long as they need to.

It comes after follow supermarket giant Asda recently issued a similar announcement.

M&S says stores colleagues can be alerted and will offer assistance if necessary, in a bid to make customers feel more safe shopping in store.

It comes as women across the globe have demanded a better understanding of women's rights.

Posting to Instagram, M&S said: "If you ever feel unsafe, please come in and stay as long as you need to. Our colleagues are here to help you."

The post read: "Our stores are safe spaces for everyone in the community.

"If you feel unsafe, please come in and stay as long as you need to.

"Our colleagues are there to help anyone who needs it."

The post, that was liked almost 500, 000 times, has gone down well with shoppers as many applauded M&S for their efforts to keep customers safe.
