Marks and Spencer is selling Christmas flavour bacon that's marinated in black treacle

For anyone that's getting ready to tuck into a tasty bacon sandwich this Christmas, Marks and Spencer has just given the classic English breakfast a very festive tweak.

As beloved British supermarket M&S is now selling Christmas spice flavour bacon.

Hand cured, matured and then air-dried for 14 days, the Christmassy flavour apparently comes from a festive spice rub, which is essentially a blend of brown and white sugar, molasses, coriander and ground juniper berries.

Once it's been covered with the rub, it's then smoked over beech and applewood chips, before being marinated in black treacle.

A bit like maple-glazed but with an extra pinch of festive-flavour spice, M&S' intriguing bacon sounds ideal for Christmas morning or breakfast butties in the run-up to the big day.

Alternatively, you could wrap it around a turkey to keep things super succulent while cooking, or make your own super festive pigs in blankets with it.

As well as arriving in rasher form, you can also get Christmas Spiced Bacon Lardons (£2.50 for 150g), which are perfect for frying with brussel sprouts.

Called the M&S Select Farms British Outdoor Bred Christmas Spiced Streaky Bacon, it will set you back £3.50 for 14 rashers.

Sadly, it's only available in M&S stores, as the only Marks and Spencer food you can buy online is their Food To Order range.
