Marko Grujic's comments leave ex-Liverpool player furious amid Adrian criticism

Former Liverpool player Jose Enrique was left furious at Marko Grujic after his comments on Adrian’s performance against Aston Villa.

The midfielder, who made a loan move to Porto on deadline day, gave a scathing review of the Reds goalkeeper after letting seven goals past him last week.

Speaking about Fantasy Football, Grujic responded to a post about Watkins on Instagram by saying: "The first couple of games the man is nowhere to be found, I impatiently decided to move him (out of my team) in Fantasy... the rest is history."

He then added: "Probably also ended Adrian's career at LFC," along with a sly face emoji.

But Enrique, who made 99 appearances for the Anfield side over five seasons, held nothing back in his criticism of Grujic’s public opinions.

Writing on his own Instagram channel, Enrique said: “I’m not sure if this is true?

“Can someone verify if it is? Because if it is I don't know what the f*** he is doing, seriously.

“Killing one of your ex team-mates (for now), because he is away on loan, when on top of that he has to be back next season. Makes no sense.”

Adrian was stepping in for the injured Alisson, who has been ruled out for weeks after picking up a shoulder injury in training.

The Spaniard managed to step in for the Brazilian last season, making 18 appearances that also included a Super Cup-winning stint.

But club legend John Barnes believes the 33-year-old is “not the man” to replace Alisson.

“I think in terms of a number two goalkeeper, Adrian came in last year and did quite well when he arrived," the Reds legend told Bonus Code Bets.

"But considering he was taken on as a back-up whereas now, with Alisson injured, Liverpool are looking for someone to come in for three to four months, judging by previous performances, I’m not convinced Adrian is the man for the job.

“The loss against Aston Villa was hard and not only would it have knocked Adrian’s confidence but it’d also have put doubt in players’ minds if he has what it takes to help win games - at this level.

"At the end of the day, he was a free transfer, which at times, says something about a player.”
