Markieff Morris gets 2-game suspension by Suns after throwing a towel at his coach

Dec. 24--Markieff Morris wasn't a happy camper Wednesday evening.

Chances are, he's even more unhappy Thursday after the Phoenix Suns suspended the power forward for two games for "conduct detrimental to the team." A night earlier, Morris threw a towel toward Coach Jeff Hornacek after being benched during a 104-96 loss to Denver.

Morris actually hasn't been happy in Phoenix for a while. He has tweeted his desire to be traded upon multiple occasions and lost his starting power forward spot to Jon Leuer earlier this month.

With his playing time down from a season ago, from 31.5 minutes a game to 23.5, maybe Morris just reached his boiling point Wednesday when he was removed from the game during the fourth quarter.

"He's mad about not playing," Hornacek said of Morris, whose scoring has dropped from 15.3 points a game last year to 10.3 this year. He had six points in 12 minutes against the Nuggets.

"He thinks he is better than that. Well, show me."

Instead, Morris responded by throwing a towel, which hit his coach in the leg. According to Yahoo, he told teammates he didn't intend for it to actually hit his coach. Hornacek picked up the towel and tossed it back at Morris.

When asked about the incident after the game, Morris told reporters, "I am not going to talk about this. It is between me and Coach Hornacek."
