A 63-year-old man from Markham died in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday evening after having a possible medical emergency in northwest Indiana.
He was driving a pickup truck north on I-65 two miles north of I-80/94 about 6 p.m. when he suddenly drove into a concrete median barrier, Indiana State Police said in a statement.
The truck continued over the barrier and into the southbound lanes, state police said. He hit another barrier and guardrail before stopping on the west shoulder.
He was taken to Northlake Hospital in Gary and pronounced dead, state police said. He was the lone occupant.
State police said it was “possible that the driver may have suffered a medical event prior to the crash.” Autopsy results were pending.
