Markets come alive in Bhopal ahead of Christmas

BHOPAL: Christmas festivities began amidst threat of the third wave of the pandemic. The festival shopping has already begun which includes mostly the garments and footwear.

Bhopal bakers are working overtime to meet the deadlines for cake deliveries. There was hardly any Christmas celebration last year, said Wilson John, because of the coronavirus. This year also, people have seen the dance of death, he said. “But the Lord has taught us to rise and the devotees are gearing up for the celebrations”, said Christina Merry, a homemaker.

Market sentiments are good and people have been buying whatever is required for celebrating the festival, said Ajay Devnani, general secretary of New Market Vyapari Association. Sanjay Wadhwani, head of a popular bakery said, “We have bookings for cakes- from party cakes to those required for celebrations at home.”
