Marketing Humber unveils major partners as top firms back campaign

More of Hull’s top businesses have jumped aboard Marketing Humber’s push to promote the region as a world leader in tackling climate change.

The new major partners join a host of principal partners announced by Marketing Humber earlier this year.

New names to get behind the organisation and its recently-released Waterline campaign include Smith & Nephew, Andrew Jackson Solicitors, Saltend Chemicals Park operator PX Group and fine paper maker G.F. Smith.

As part of an ambitious new strategy, Marketing Humber has joined with the University of Hull to launch a long-term campaign called The Waterline.

The campaign recognises that the Humber is among the coastal regions around the world most at risk of flooding due to rising sea levels.

It also builds on the Humber’s status as a major industrial cluster and growing reputation as the UK’s leading centre for renewable energy generation.

Marketing Humber Chair Andy Parkinson said: “This is about marketing the Humber in a very different way and uniting people and organisations behind the climate challenge.

“We have a huge opportunity in the Humber because there’s a gold rush for technology investment to develop solutions that decarbonise the world.

“We are the perfect living lab for decarbonisation – why can’t the Humber be a low-carbon innovation zone.”

The full list of new major partners is: Andrew Jackson Solicitors, Bishop Burton College, Forrester Boyd, G.F. Smith, Jelf Insurance Partnership, PX Group, Smailes Goldie and Smith & Nephew.

They have now joined a string of high-profile principal partners which includes ABP, Drax, Hull City Council, the University of Hull, KCOM and RB.

The Major Partners add another level of support to Marketing Humber’s membership structure.

Jane Goult, business development marketing manager of PX Group, said: “As a major investor, we have demonstrated our confidence in the region and are delighted to become a Major Partner, supporting Marketing Humber’s work to champion the area and to secure further investment.

“In the drive to capitalise on the huge economic opportunities decarbonisation offers, the Humber’s significance as the UK’s energy estuary – and one of the country’s leading industrial clusters – will surely play a big part.

“This exciting future matches our own ambitions to establish Saltend Chemicals Park as an engine for long-term economic growth and a key player in the development of renewable energy operations.”

More opportunities are available to support and be part of Marketing Humber’s work.
