Marketing boss is new chair of entrepreneur support body WeDO Scotland

Business support group WeDO Scotland has named stalwart Glasgow entrepreneur Gordon White as its new chair.

White, the founder and managing director of marketing agency fatBuzz, takes over as chairman from Par Equity founder Paul Atkinson.

White established his agency as Design Matters in 1986, initially providing design and marketing services. It was rebranded in 2010 and now helps businesses with their digital strategy, advising on content creation, brand journalism, influence marketing, email marketing, customer service, Facebook advertising and lead generation.

White was previously brand owner of John Letters of Scotland, then the world’s oldest golf club manufacturer.

He said: "I am delighted and feel very privileged to accept the position as chairman. I have been an advocate of WeDO Scotland since its inception 12 years ago, but never more so than over the last eight weeks.

"The organisation and its members’ response to the Covid-19 crisis have highlighted the value of WeDO Scotland, the way that members have come together to help one another has been truly encouraging and heart-warming.

“I’d also like to thank Paul Atkinson for his contribution as chair and I look forward to carrying on the excellent work he has done throughout his tenure.

“Looking to the future, I relish the challenge as we continue to deal with the current economic problems.  I am very confident that, working with the Executive Team and the members, WeDO Scotland will flourish.”

Atkinson said: “WeDO continues to make amazing progress, supporting Scotland’s high growth SMEs, particularly at such a challenging time. As a long-term supporter and more recently as chaiman, I have very much enjoyed the journey, working with so many great people and their winning businesses.

"I am delighted to welcome Gordon White as the new chair. This is a fantastic appointment of one of WeDO’s longest standing advocates and one of Scotland’s most successful entrepreneurs.”
