Vintage Gathering is a new bespoke wedding florist business. My marketing strategy to date has revolved solely around social media, mostly Twitter.
I find that Twitter feels like an online marketing network family. The phrase “you get out what you put in” has never meant so much to me, and it’s most important to be beneficent in your approach. Show your interest in others and they’ll reward you with retweets, favourites and kind comments (which means a lot when you’re at the start of your small business marketing, believe me!).
PR is all about showing the world how good you are, but also that you’re a great person to deal with. Customer service, although a well-used concept, is key.
My launch offer was to provide free floristry for weddings in the next couple of months. Out of this I received a huge response on Twitter, and lots of hits to my website and Facebook page. The thinking behind this was to support my soft launch, get contacts and send out a strong message of excellent customer service.
I love what I do and I think that shows through my approach to marketing and PR. For me, it’s not about the hard sell, but getting people interested and letting my skills, passion and flowers do the talking.
