Plant-n-Grow sprouted onto the market in May with a range of easy-to-use indoor and outdoor grow your own kits for herbs, veg, edible flowers and micro-greens. With ambitious goals and passion, but no marketing and PR budget, we knew we had to be creative to punch above our weight. With our eye-catching brands and custom gnome illustrations, we launched.
Using social media to inspire and engage customers with competitions, recipes, advice and our ‘name our gnomes’ campaign, we now have a following who share their grow your own journeys. In a few short months we have increased our following and successfully managed to drive traffic to our e-commerce and partner sites - this has resulted in us exceeding our first months sales targets. We are exhibiting as a new product innovator at Glee Retail in Birmingham and, most recently, we won the ‘Potential Hi-Impact Award’ from Entrepreneurial Spark’. We now have eight partner sites, we’ve been selected for the notonthehighstreet.com Christmas catalogue and have secured our first five retailers including, Whole Foods Market in Giffnock.
We held a very small, low-cost press, blogger and supplier launch with our collaboration partner, Edinburgh School of Food and Wine. We invited a selection of local and national press with an enclosed press release and Horticulture Week, Scottish Gardener and bloggers covered the launch.
Amazing what can be achieved with no budget. Combining creative content and hard work, it’s possible for new starts to shout loudly and proudly.
