As a single mum to a two-year-old, working part-time, and half way through a law degree with the Open University, it was essential for me to find marketing and PR routes that were not only affordable, but were not too much of a demand on my time.
After some disappointing and expensive advertising I decided to concentrate on networking with other women in business and looking for agents who believed in my products as much as me. These two strategies have been key to the success of KIH Products.
For only two hours and £30 a month I benefit from a network of women sharing, promoting and generating leads for KIH products, which in turn has generated sales. I am looking for more agents, but my existing agent is also now enjoying a return on her investment.
For somebody who simply cannot afford national magazine advertising, and cannot afford the time or money required to attend trade shows, I would recommend marketing and PR via networking to anybody new to business with very little budget.
I did advertise in a relevant national magazine and at an affordable show initially, but this failed to return. I then advertised in a national trade magazine, which did offer some return but not enough to offer continued affordability of advertising. After this I had pretty much lost hope, but then I decided to attend the networking meeting and this really did turn things around for KIH Products.
