Dean Carby, company director of London-based VNV Live, explains why the business should win the marketing and PR category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition.
VNV Live are a London-based audiovisual services company providing exceptional lighting, professional audio and staging services along with event DJs for private, public and corporate clients. We are passionate about creating unforgettable experiences and memories for our customers.
In summer 2015, we decided to create a variety of videos to showcase our services at events, including corporate events and weddings. We worked closely with professional videographers to capture the VNV Live brand and vision to produce high quality videos, which offered the viewer a behind-the-scenes look at how we provide stunning audiovisuals for celebrations.
We opted for video as the medium for our new marketing strategy as it allows us to accurately and effectively demonstrate the difference our services make to our customers and their guests, rather than getting technical about the equipment as other audiovisual companies do. We feel this is a more effective approach for potential customers.
For greater impact, we adjusted our website homepage to display our most popular video so site visitors immediately gain an understanding of our services. In addition, we devised an email newsletter campaign. Our fortnightly newsletter tells the story behind each video and offers brief technical information for the more knowledgeable customer.
We reinforced the strategy by producing fortnightly blog posts for visitors to our website, particularly aimed at those that aren’t subscribed to our newsletters. This ensures that all who interact with us are receiving a consistent brand message. Since launching our campaign, we have received over 265 views for our Women in Construction & Engineering Awards video and enquiries for services have increased significantly.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
