Paola Dyboski-Bryant, founder of Bangor-based Dr Zigs Extraordinary Bubbles, explains why the business should win the marketing and PR category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition.
At Dr Zigs we use the fun of bubbles in everything we do. We believe our bubbles sell themselves – people just need to see them – and making sure they do is key to our marketing strategy.
We have expanded to three dedicated bubble shops, which are in themselves a feature of north Wales tourism. We fly bubbles with the zipline at Zip World Llechwedd, and put people into bubbles in Betws-y-Coed and Vaynol.
In 2015 our main marketing and PR strategies focus around spreading the bubbles far and wide, making our bubbles visible at fetes, festivals, fun-days and carnivals, then using our strong online presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram to share our escapades.
At festivals like Kendal Calling, festival-goers loved our bubbles. We had shout outs from the Super Furry Animals, The Vaccines and Elbow. We put the lovely Lucy Rose and Hudson Taylor in a bubble, and joined the Kaiser Chiefs on stage. Forgotten Fields Festival saw us bubble the crowd for The Horrors, British Sea Power, and The Levellers. Our highlight was joining the Super Furry Animals for the climax of their headline set.
Our return to Festival No 6 is the one we’re most proud of, both for our extraordinary bubbles and our work helping others. Our Bubbles Not Bombs charitable campaign saw a hugely successful tent collection for the migrants at Calais. Let’s make the world a better place one bubble at a time.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
