Jonny Bunyan, new business manager at Boom Ents, explains why the business should win the marketing and PR category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition.
Boom’s business is marketing – it is what we do for our clients every day and we believe being the best at it starts at home. As the newest agency in the competitive world of theatre and live entertainment, we have come up with innovative ways of communicating with our clients that have quickly gained us a reputation as the most creative and straight-talking agency in our field.
Boom believes in the power of advertising, so we commissioned unique cartoons for our marketing materials and used them in adverts at the Olivier Awards. We like our clients to remember it’s not all about work, so we have held a series of learning events from graffiti workshops to butterfly collecting.
Even when we’re not with them, we like them to be thinking about our creativity, so we send clients regular reminders: daffodils hand-delivered to mark the start of spring; a cross-stitched logo for the re-opening of a community London theatre. We set up a series of e-newsletters to inform the market about our amazing success and Dawn, the company’s founder, writes a blog about life as a young, female entrepreneurial business leader.
In the space of three years the company has grown to ten members of staff and our client list has expanded to include major projects with the largest names in the business. Most of all, we want to remind everyone that if we can do it for ourselves, we can do it for them.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the top three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
