An enormous new food hall will open in Leicester Square in December, bringing sixteen food concepts to one of London’s culinary dead zones.
Market Place is to take over a five-storey building beside the Odeon cinema and promises to be “one of the largest and most ambitious food hall experiences the UK has ever seen”.
At the new site, restaurants will be spread across five floors, while drinks will be served on the ground floor and on the balcony overlooking Leicester Square.
There will also be an events space with a cinema screen, comedy nights, live music and DJ sets, and private dining rooms.
There are no details yet about what restaurant brands will feature at the new food hall but existing offerings at the other Market Place sites include Neapolitan pizza, tacos, burgers, Thai concepts and more. None of the brands are big names, as is the case at the likes of Kerb and Market Halls.
Blake Henderson, managing director at Market Place, said: “We started Market Place with one neighbourhood site in Peckham and in a few short years it has grown across the city.
“Leicester Square is the biggest leap forward yet. It is one of the most famous squares in the world and we are proud to bring our biggest Market Place yet right to the heart of the West End.
“This flagship is everything Market Place stands for. Incredible food, great drinks, live entertainment and a space where Londoners and visitors can celebrate together.”
