Market Hill in Castle Douglas packed for Jubilee on the Hill picnic

Market Hill in Castle Douglas was packed on Friday afternoon for Jubilee on the Hill picnic.

Kiera Martin and Martin Danziger did face painting, balloon modelling and clowning as part of The Stove’s What We Do Now project.

There was also music from Song Wave, directed by Kate Howard, Ukefrolics and Wave Blues Band.

Castle Douglas Development Forum chairman, Carolyn Yates, said: “We had about 2,000 people there.

“Our balloon person made more than 500 animals for the kids, the face painter painted about 100 faces and every picnic table was full.

“Waves Blues Band went down extremely well, they had everybody rocking and rolling.

“It wasn’t a big glossy number but we wanted it to be more of a community event and that’s what we got.”
