Mark Wright 'overwhelmed' after becoming an uncle to 'absolutely beautiful' nephew

Mark Wright has described becoming an uncle for the first time as an "overwhelming" experience, following the birth of his nephew last week.

The reality TV star, 35, is the older brother of footballer Josh Wright, 32 - who welcomed his first child with wife Hollie Kane Wright, 29, just over a week ago.

The baby's arrival was announced by the family on social media recently, with the newborn - whose name has yet to be shared with fans - having been born a month premature.

It's the first time that the Only Way is Essex alum has become an uncle. He's set to welcome a niece or a second nephew later this year as his sister Jessica Wright, 36, is pregnant.

Mark opened up about the experience during his radio show on Heart FM over the weekend, with him referring to his newborn nephew as "absolutely beautiful."

The I'm a Celebrity finalist further discussed becoming an uncle for the very first time, saying: "It's just overwhelming, quite surprising, shocking but in such a beautiful way."

And he revealed that himself and wife Michelle Keegan, 34, had been at his parents' home when they heard the news that his younger brother had become a father.

The presenter explained that the couple - who have been married since 2015 - have been staying at his parents' home whilst in the process of renovating their own home.

He told listeners that his mum Carol Wright, 62, had gone to the hospital amid her grandchild's birth, with Mark, wife Michelle and his dad Mark Wright Sr., 65, remaining at home.

The Strictly Come Dancing alum said that him and Michelle had been lying in bed when his brother announced the baby's birth to the family in a WhatsApp group chat.

Mark said that the couple went to share the news with his dad, who was in bed upstairs, with his father than encouraging them to head downstairs to "pop a bottle."

It was explained that this was something he had done following the birth of his own four children, with Mark teasing that it could be the same tradition for grandchildren.

The presenter had shared news of his nephew's arrival on Instagram last week, writing in a post: "Welcome to the world little man. Everybody loves you so much."

He added: "Just stick with me son and everything will be alright. So proud of the way you have both handled this early surprise [Josh and Hollie]. Love you both so much."

You can listen to Mark Wright on Heart radio on Saturday afternoons from 4pm to 7pm.
