Mark Wright lifts the lid on why his wife Michelle Keegan will never do Strictly

Mark Wright reckons his wife Michelle Keegan wouldn't be able to hack it on Strictly Come Dancing because she'd get "too nervous".

Coronation Street star Michelle has been linked to the show for several years but has yet to feature on it.

But Mark, 32, who will be taking to the Strictly dance floor for the second time during the Christmas special, has written off his wife's chances of being able to follow in his footsteps.

He told The Sun: "I don't think she… she might. I mean never say never.

"But she, I just think her nerves would go to another level, she gets quite nervous.

He added that when Michelle watches him on Strictly she always tells him 'I don’t know how you do it!'."

The ex Towie start has been paired with Janette Manrara for the special, which airs on Christmas Day, and the duo will salsa to Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses.

The former footballer said he wasn't impressed when he was told what dance style he had been allocated on the show - and revealed it was later changed to salsa.

He said: "You’re not supposed to change. You don't want to look like you're trying to request anything.

"So I was like polite 'please, I’m coming back once, and once only, just let me do a fast dance'."

Mark and Janette will battle it out for the Glitterball trophy against Debbie McGee Mark Wright, Joe Sugg , Chizzy Akudolu, Gemma Atkinson and Richard Arnold.

The contestants will be judged on their performances by Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Obuse

Mark originally danced with Karen Hauer when he crashed out of the Strictly final in 2014.

Despite leaving the show, impressed the judges with his performance, with judge Bruno Tonioli comparing him to a "cricket".
