Mark Wright issues Halloween costume apology after backlash for dressing as rapper 6ix9in

Mark Wright has issued an apology and deleted a photo of him dressed as American rapper Tekashi 6ix9in, after being informed that the musician was convicted of a child sex crime two years ago.

Like many celebs, Mark wanted to make an impact with his Halloween costume and he did, but for all the wrong reasons.

Soon after he posted the topless photo, with his body covered in replicas of 6ix9in's many tattoos and him sporting bright dreadlocks, Instagram users were quick to point out the rapper's previous conviction.

Mark even tagged his Halloween inspiration in the caption of his Insta post, but wasn't aware that the star, real name Daniel Hernandez, was sentenced to four years probation in 2018 for publicly posting a video of a 13-year-old girl performing sexual acts at a party.

As soon as he became aware of 6ix9in's crime, Mark removed the photo from his Instagram and the issued an apology on his story.

In it, the former TOWIE cast member and I'm A Celebrity finalist, wrote: "My apologies for last night’s Halloween picture.

“I only knew about Tekashi’s 6ix9ine’s music and not about his offences.

"Had I known, it would not have been my choice of costume."

Many social media users were still in shock at Mark's decision to dress as the controversial rapper, with one tweeting: "How do Celebs, with all the management around them, make such an a**e of something? Mark Wright dressed as 6ix9ine last night, now I’ve never heard of him but a quick google search and within half a minute I found out he was charged with multiple child sex offences."

Another reacted: "little bit more research on that one I think."
