Mark Wright calls himself 'Hitch' after matchmaking sister Jess with new husband

Mark Wright has dubbed himself 'Hitch', due to his successful matchmaking history with sister Jess Wright and her new husband William Lee-Kemp.

The 36-year-old reality TV star married the businessman in a lavish Spanish ceremony earlier this month after brother Mark first set the pair up back in 2018.

Speaking with The Mirror, former The Bachelor UK host Mark revealed his passion for seeing people fall in love, and how his mates come to him for romantic advice.

He's even branded himself Hitch after the Will Smith film of the same name in which the actor played a professional dating doctor.

"I’ve hosted a couple of dating shows and I think it’s because I do love seeing people fall in love and get together with people, you know?" the 34-year-old told us.

"It is something I do enjoy, the whole dating aspect."

The 'dating aspect' is something Mark participates in as an observer these days, having found love with Michelle Keegan - tying the knot with the former Coronation Street actress in 2015.

Despite being a married man, the former TOWIE star is still on hand to help his single friends out with their love lives.

"I like to call myself 'Hitch' [the Will Smith film] sometimes," he joked with us during our chat.

"When it [matchmaking] was my sister, I had a personal interest to it, so yeah, it was something I definitely like to do.

I don't really set up dates, other than Jessica, but when my mates are dating, they ask me for advice along the way when they ask 'what should I text back to that?' and things."

Speaking of his sister's wedding, Mark dubbed the celebrations in Majorca "amazing" and "a week that we'll never forget" when reminiscing over the recent nuptials.

Elsewhere during the interview, the star revealed it was a case of 'never say never' when it comes to whether he would ever make another appearance on The Only Way is Essex.

Mark first became a household name in 2010 as one of the original cast members of the Essex based reality TV series.

The TV personality quit the show to pursue other interests after three series in 2011, returning for brief cameos as recently as 2016.

When asked whether he would ever go back to his reality TV show roots, either by returning to the ITVBe series or with his own fly-on-the-wall documentary, Mark didn't shut the door completely on the idea.

"Listen, no chapter is ever closed," he told us.

"Right now, that’s not in the plans, but you never know what the future holds - never say never.

At the moment, that’s definitely not something I’m planning, no."

What the Heart radio presenter is currently working on is a new eco-friendly campaign alongside former footballer Jamie Redknapp.

The two stars have teamed with Sky and CUP26 following Tottenham Hotspur's first net zero carbon football game over the weekend.

Cutting carbon emissions isn’t usually a cause for commentary but a new film released by Sky sees football pundit Jamie and his cheeky co-commentator for the day, Mark celebrate the little wins we can all achieve in our daily lives to reduce our carbon footprint.

As we're all trying to do our bit for the environment, the former reality TV star admits he has had to make a few changes in his household to become more eco-friendly - including getting over his fear of monsters.

"Being a part of this campaign has taught me a lot more about the importance of things that I’m doing - like walking out of a room and making sure I’ve turned the lights off instead of being lazy," Mark explained.

"Or recycling properly, or not using the tumble dryer - I’ve never had a washing line in my life but now I do,' the star confessed.

With the campaign centred around small changes producing big results, we quizzed the former footballer on the best changes he's made in his household when it comes to being more environmentally conscious.

"Probably recycling. I used to have a waste bin and recycling bin but now I literally have a line of five bins. I have four, five different colour bins," he explained.

"But the big one is the lights," Mark revealed.

"I used to go to bed with the lights on in the hallway so people thought I was in but I’ve stopped being scared and now turn the light off."

"I’ve got over my monster fears," he jokingly added.
