Welsh snooker world champion Mark Williams has returned to the table to defend his title today just hours after leaving hospital.
Williams was taken to A&E on Friday night suffering from chest pains following the opening frames of his match against David Gilbert.
The 44-year-old played the first eight frames of his second round clash in Sheffield but went straight to hospital following the conclusion of the session.
The Welshman tweeted: "A&E. Could be here a while, couldn’t stick the chest pains no more.
"Lucky there wasn’t any more frames to play. #bettergetcheckedoutsafethansorry. (sic)"
Williams issued a further update on social media late on Friday night.
On Twitter, he wrote: "Doctors are confident it’s not anything to do with my heart. Awaiting more tests at 10 o clock."
Fans were quick to send their best wishes to the three-time world champion on social media.
It's understood Williams was advised by a doctor to go to hospital at the end of the first session of his second round encounter with Gilbert after he revealed he had been feeling unwell.
The Welshman is aiming to defend the title he won in stunning fashion at the Crucible last year.
Williams began Saturday morning 5-3 down and was trailing 7-5 at the morning interval.
