Mark Warburton makes West Ham move as former Rangers boss completes David Moyes link up

Former Rangers manager Mark Warburton has completed a move to become assistant manager at English Premier League club West Ham United.

The 59-year-old will get down to work this weekend when the Hammers return for pre-season training after he left Championship side Queen's Park Rangers in the spring. Irons manager David Moyes guided the club to a Europa League semi-final last season and welcomes Warburton onto his staff, who will join Billy McKinlay, Paul Nevin, Kevin Nolan and Xavi Valero on the coaching team.

Formerly of Brentford and Nottingham Forest alongside his stints at QPR and Rangers, Warburton moved to Scotland in 2015 and guided them back to the Premiership from the Championship during his two-year stint. He also won the Challenge Cup before his 2017 exit. He also guided them to the 2016 Scottish Cup final which was eventually lost 3-2 to Hibs. Now a crack at the EPL awaits.

West Ham has Europa Conference League football to look forward to and Moyes can't wait to get working with Warburton.

He replaces England international Stuart Peace on the London club's coaching staff ahead of the new season, bringing plenty of experience.

Moyes said: “I'm really pleased to welcome Mark to West Ham United. He’s a really valuable addition to the backroom team, in the wake of Stuart Pearce leaving us at the end of last season.

“Mark is hugely experienced and has a fine track record, having managed at a number of club’s over the course of his career. I’m excited about adding him to my coaching set-up as one of my assistants.”
