Mark Warburton hoping for transfer boost before facing old club Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest could face a QPR side bolstered by some more new signings on Saturday.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men get their Championship campaign up and running with a trip to Loftus Road this weekend, as they aim to go again with a promotion push.

And former Reds manager Mark Warburton is hopeful of adding a couple of additions before kick-off.

He is said to be targeting another defender, a midfielder and at least one more attacker, with Ben Watson having been linked with a move to Rangers after his contract at the City Ground came to an end.

“There will be a couple more if we can,” he told West London Sport.

“If the right players become available at the right price, which is key in the current financial landscape, and we can get those players, then we will do.

“A lot of work is being done to get those bodies in. But it’s not easy.

“There are a lot of people available, but it’s about getting the right people who can add quality to a good squad.

“If we can do that, we will do.”

“It’s really difficult in terms of where the financial landscape is and where the dust will settle after Covid,” he added.

“What is the value of a player? What’s the value of a player in terms of the basic wage and value in terms of transfer fee?

“With these type of factors we suddenly have a whole new landscape.”

Forest head coach Lamouchi, too, is looking to do further business before Saturday’s game, having brought in six recruits so far.

“The club are working for that, so we will see,” he said, of the chances of any more signings before the weekend.
