Mark Warburton backs Rangers SPFL stance as he makes Celtic fans integrity claim

Mark Warburton insists Scottish football needs to tidy up its tarnished image.

The ex- Rangers manager has been left disappointed at the arguments and disagreements through the resolution voting process that has led to battles across the country.

Warburton’s old club as well as Aberdeen and Hearts are at the forefront of calls for an independent review into the affair.

The former Ibrox boss believes a bad look has been projected and said: “It has been described as a mess.

“You don’t want a senior league like the SPFL to be reflected in that type of poor light.

“Lots of negativity and poor press, it has enough problems.

“Financially, we have a lot of problems down here and clubs are teetering on the brink, so you want to be have solidity at the highest level and I’m very disappointed to hear it.

“The game needs to tidy and portray a really strong image. It’s important for Scottish football to do that.”

Warburton, meanwhile, has maintained his stance that the Premiership needs to be concluded. Clubs are hunting ways to play the final matches of the 2019/20 campaign after the coronavirus is brought under control.

Warburton thinks competitions must be ended on the park and told Sky: “I’m not going to speak for Celtic fans as an ex-Rangers manager, but I don’t think they’ll want to win it fair and square.

“It’s important for the integrity of all concerned. Relegation, promotion, title winners, to do it fairly.

“If they are going to win the title, and there are two Old Firm games left yet, they will want to do it in the right manner, I’m sure of that.”
