Mark Wahlberg reveals painful eye injury in social media clip as he sports eyepatch

Mark Wahlberg has revealed a painful-looking eye injury on Instagram, telling fans "don't ask".

The Boogie Nights star can be seen sporting a bandage over his left eye as he turns his head to reveal multiple strips of medical tape.

It's not clear how Mark sustained the injury, but he was seen earlier in the week posing in a gym with Saved By The Bell actor Mario Lopez.

Mark, Mario and kickboxer Rico Verhoeven can all be seen smiling for a picture at an F45 Gym, in which Mark has invested.

Mark captioned the shot: "An amazing F45 work out dedicated to our veterans! Thank you for your service. With my brothers @ricoverhoeven and @mariolopez!! Let’s get it! #F45partner."

Later, having seen his friend's eye injury Mario posted: "Feel better my man!"

Fans were quick to wish Mark well with one cheekily suggesting "New Pirates of the Caribbean?"

The Hollywood actor will soon be seen in Stu, which is based on the life story of boxer-turned-priest Father Stuart Long.

Mark admitted he had to gorge on 11,000 calories a day to bulk up for his new film – and moaned it was “not fun”.

The star, who was once a Calvin Klein model, ate every three hours for a month to put on three stone for the role.

The actor, 50, who found fame with rap crew Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in the early 90s, said he initially loved popping into bakeries.

As well as boxes of doughnuts, he said a typical breakfast was 20 chicken nuggets and 20 KFC hot wings washed down with cans of beer.

However Mark said: “Unfortunately, I had to consume, for two weeks, 7,000 calories, and then for another two weeks, 11,000.

“It’s such a hard, physical thing to do.

“Once the metabolism starts to slow down, it gets difficult. Losing weight, you just tough it out, you just don’t eat. And this, even when full, I’d have another meal. I was eating every three hours.

“It was not fun.”

The father-of four was forced to take a break from filming in Los Angeles in April to go to Massachusetts and attend the funeral of his mother Alma.

The mother-of-nine starred on the reality television series "Wahlburgers" with her sons New Kids On The Block's Donnie, Mark and Paul.

Wahlburgers followed Paul's dream to create a burger chain that subsequently became famous and expanded throughout the US.
