Mark Viduka's Leeds United training ground antics and the time he hid from David O'Leary

Mark Viduka has revealed the fantastic story of how he avoided the wrath of David O'Leary after oversleeping for a Leeds United training session.

The Australian forward spent four years at Elland Road, playing a vital role in their Champions League progress during that period.

However, having played his part in a 3-3 European clash with Lazio at Elland Road, Viduka recalls how he was forced to scramble to training having woken up late.

Viduka has scored in the match against the Italian opposition the night before in a result that had guaranteed Leeds' place in the knockout rounds.

Having rushed to the training ground, Viduka recalls how he was forced to jump a fence to avoid being caught arriving late, completing the full training session with his keys and phone in his pockets.

"I slept in after a Champions League games we had just qualified for the next stage against Lazio. We had to start at 10 or something and I woke up at five to 10," Viduka told ESPN.

"I just chucked on a tracksuit, I don't even know which one it was, I think it was blue. I chucked it on, put some tracksuit pants on and I drove into the training session.

"I see they're already out doing the warm-up so what I did instead was I parked the car next to the pitch, jumped the fence and started doing the warm down with them in my tracksuit.

"I had keys and a mobile phone and all you could hear was everything jiggling. I did the session with my hands in my pockets so they wouldn't be jiggling.

"I did! (get away with it)."
