Mark Smith returned to Kinnoull with a bang by netting the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Lochgelly Albert.
The forward, who recently arrived back at Tulloch Park from Jeanfield Swifts, scored the only goal of the game on 23 minutes. He was in the right place at the right time to nudge over the line after good work on the right flank from Ben Ragan.
Kinnoull moved up to fourth in the East of Scotland League’s Conference B following the victory.
And a delighted Smith said: “It’s great to be back playing at Tulloch Park again with a good squad of boys.
“It’s always good getting the goal but to get it on my return made it that little bit better.
“My first spell at the club was fantastic and I enjoyed it a lot working with Alan Cameron. So when the interest came for a possible return it was something I didn’t need to think too much about.
“The main thing for myself is getting back enjoying my football again and I’m looking forward to doing that at Kinnoull.”
Smith admits the Tulloch Park tussle with Lochgelly would not have been an entertaining one for the spectators but all that mattered was grinding out the win.
He told the PA: “It wasn’t the greatest of games with the conditions playing a big part.
“It was really a game of keeping the ball down with how gusty it was, but we did create good chances at times. The Lochgelly keeper pulled off some good saves.
“They started putting a bit more pressure on us near the end but we managed to hold out and come away with the three points and clean sheet, which is the main thing.”
