Mark Ruffalo reveals how Marvel reacted to his infamous Thor: Ragnarok leak

Mark Ruffalo has revealed how Marvel reacted after his now-legendary Facebook Live leak of the premiere of Thor: Ragnarok

The actor appeared on The Graham Norton Show where he discussed his new film, Dark Waters, but also his now-notorious habit of accidentally leaking film spoilers.

Back in 2017, Ruffalo was attending the Thor premiere when he took part in a backstage Facebook Live broadcast to fans before the film began, under instructions from the film’s publicity team.

Unfortunately, he didn’t turn off the livestream before sitting down to watch the movie, and ended up broadcasting the first 20 minutes of the film to thousands of people.

“My phone was blowing up,” he recalled. “Everyone and their mother was texting me from all over the world to tell me that my phone was on and I was live-broadcasting the movie.

“Of course, I’m a gentleman, so I don’t check my phone during movies.”

Eventually, someone was sent to inform Ruffalo that his phone was on. “I pulled it out and I was like, ‘Ohhhhh.... s**t.’”

In the aftermath, Ruffalo received a tense phonecall from Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige: “He was like, ‘What are you doing man?’ I told him, ‘Kevin, it was an accident, I swear to God.’”

The following day, the Hulk actor had to see Feige in person to do press for the film.

“I walk over to him to say sorry, and he grabs me in a bear hug,” Ruffalo recalled. “And he’s like.... ‘That was genius! We got more press from that than the entire premiere! We couldn’t have imagined doing something that good!’”

Ruffalo appeared on Norton’s red sofa along with David Schwimmer, Tamsin Greig, and actor and comedian Nick Mohammed

In other Marvel news, Superhero Buzz’s Mikey Sutton is circulating the rumour that Marvel president Kevin Feige is lining up an X-Men character to be the villain in Captain Marvel 2 – read more on that here.
