Mark Reynolds signs Dundee United pre-contract as he leaves Aberdeen on a three-year deal

Aberdeen’s Mark Reynolds has signed a pre-contract with Dundee United following a successful loan spell at Tannadice.

The defender will join the Championship club in the summer on a three-year deal.

Derek McInnes has paid tribute to the 31-year-old who spent seven years at Pittodrie.

The Aberdeen boss said: "I’ve been in regular contact with Mark over the last few months. He’s been offered a fantastic opportunity at Dundee United and we wish him well with that.

"He’s been a very good servant to the club over a period of time and a very valuable member of my squad since I’ve been at the club.

"He showed great determination to come back from a serious injury and now Dundee United will reap the benefit of Mark’s ability and experience going forward and we wish him every success.

"Mark’s built strong relationships with everyone throughout the club, both on the football side and behind the scenes, and while he will be missed, we understand his decision to go and play regular football."

Reynolds, who was part of the Dons side that won the League Cup in 2014 while making 237 appearances for the North-East side, joined the Tannadice club in the January window.

He has played nine times for Robbie Neilson ’s promotion-chasing side.
