Mark Owen wants Take That to play Glastonbury Festival Legends slot

Mark Owen hopes to play with Take That in the Glastonbury Legends spot.

The 50-year-old singer said: “I’m the biggest fan of Glasto – I’ve been five times in my life and seen the biggest and best bands there.

“Maybe one day we will.”

Dolly Parton, Diana Ross and Kylie Minogue are among the artists who have played the Sunday afternoon stage.

Mark, at No.2 in the midweek charts with solo album Land of Dreams, said: “There are so many people who could fill that spot. I don’t know if we’ve been invited, but we’ve never had a window of opportunity where our diaries have crossed over with Glastonbury.

“It would be wonderful to play there, but I’d be happy to go as a fan or as a musician.”

Land of Dreams is his first solo record in nine years and trails D-Block Europe by just 1,000 chart units. He will find out today if he has hit No1.

Mark said: “I honestly can’t quite get my head around it.

“Obviously, it has happened with Take That, which I am super grateful for, but if it does happen, I’ll probably celebrate by phoning my producers and sharing the news with fans.”

He confirmed Take That plan to get back together next year, saying he had met Gary Barlow and hoped they would start writing a new album together in January.

He said: “It’s what we spoke about... when we could go into the studio together.”
